1. Personal Data We Collect
We collect information necessary to provide safe, reliable ride-hailing services, driver onboarding, and corporate travel administration:
- Account Information: Name, phone number, email address, profile picture, and language preferences.
- Driver Verification Documents: Driving license, NIDA ID, LATRA permit, vehicle registration logbook, and police clearance certificates.
- Transaction Data: Trip receipts, payment method choices (M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, card), and corporate billing logs.
2. Precise Location & GPS Privacy
Trotters collects real-time location data from riders and drivers to enable route navigation, accurate ETA calculations, and emergency SOS assistance:
Background Location Usage for Drivers:
When active or online, the Trotters Driver app accesses precise background GPS coordinates to compute turn-by-turn routes, track live ride progress, and update Tile38 geofencing. Location tracking ceases immediately when drivers go offline.
3. Data Security & Storage
All user passwords and sensitive tokens are hashed using Argon2id/BCrypt. Data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.3/SSL, and database backups are secured in private encrypted storage.
4. Account & Data Deletion Rights
In accordance with Apple App Store and Google Play Developer guidelines, every Trotters user has the fundamental right to request complete deletion of their account and personal data.
How to Delete Your Account:
- Directly In-App: Profile > Settings > Delete Account & Data
- Online Web Request: Use our dedicated web portal to submit an account purge request without needing the app installed.
